PlantFile Search provides access to information on plants in the PlantFile database

Welcome to the Lane Cove Council Plant Library!

A collection of 200 plants suitable for the Lane Cove LGA have been assembled in this database. These plants include a wide variety of native plants indigenous to the Lane Cove area, as well as a number of non-invasive exotic plants. This resource will help you select plants for your garden or development.

Lane Cove Council encourages residents to plant native species indigenous to the local area. This is worthwhile for a number of reasons:
1. You can help preserve the historic and aesthetic landscape qualities of the area.
2. You can provide valuable habitat for many birds, mammals, reptiles and insects that are still found through out the area.
3. Local plants selected with care, are already adapted to the local soils and microclimates, so they often grow more rapidly and need less constant attention.

When selecting plants suitable for your site, you must consider factors such as soil type, plant height, water usage, aspect and so on. This resource allows you to enter specific search criteria to find suitable plants for any location!
